Naturism in Iceland

Can you practise naturism in Iceland?

Is it not too cold for that?

The answer is: There are ideal conditions for naturist activities in Iceland.

  • Like everywhere else you can practice it in your home. You just raise the temperature a little bit.

  • There are outdoor swimming pools all over the country, open all year round. You don’t have that anywhere else in the northern hemisphere. Some swimming pools can be booked outside the regular opening hours. It is ideal for a group of naturists to rent a swimming pool together.

  • There are natural hot pools in many places around the country and some swimming pools, which are not under supervision. They are ideal for nude bathing. It is not very common that Icelandic people do it but foreigners do it often. You must of course show consideration for other people who may be present. The purpose is not to shock others.

  • Many people have summerhouses where it is ideal to be naked. There are also many summerhouses for rent all over the country. Many of them have hot tubs, which makes it even easier to get naked.

  • It is easy to find places in nature where you can be naked without disturbing anybody. You still have to be careful not to shock people who can suddenly show up.

Facts about naturism in Iceland:

  • There are no naturist places, where you can meet other naturists.

  • At present there are no naturist clubs or any social naturist activity.
